West Java 5 Days Birding Tour Itinerary

Day 1 : Jakarta Hotel – Muara Angke – Jakarta Bay Birding – Ciwidey

You will be picked up at hotel in Jakarta around 5 am by our guide, then we drive to Muara Angke for boat trip Birding at Muara Angke and Jakarta Bay and we hope to see one of the highlight : Sunda Coucal ( its rare ), Milky stork, Christmas Frigate Bird, Javan Plovers, Javan Pond Herons, Bar-winged Prinias, Red Breasted Parkeet.

Small Minivets, Lesser Whistling Duck, Sunda-Teal, Whimbrel, Little Cormorant, Clamorous Reed Warbler, Javan Myna, Javan Munia, maybe Sunda pygmy woodpecker, Grey Heron, Purple Heron, Cerulean Blue kingfisher, Racket_Tailed Treepie, Golden-Bellied Greygone, Straited Heron, Cattle Egret, Little Egret, Whisker Tern, Pied Stilt, Eurasian Moorhen, Pink-necked Green Pigeion, Sunda Collared-Dove, Spotted Dove and Indonesia Honey Eater.

Then at 1 PM, we drive direct to Ciwidey by private car will take around 4 approximately. Check in Hotel / Guest house. (L,D)

Day 2:  Ciwidey – Kawah Putih Full Day Birding  ( B,L,D)

After early breakfast we drive to Kawah Putih by private car, you’ll have the opportunity to spot species like: : Javan Trogon, Horsfield’s Thrush , Sunda Trush, Javan Cochoa, Javan Tesias, Volcano Swiftlets, Javan Scop owl, Javan Hawk-Eagle, White-flanked Sunbird, Pink-headed Fruit Doves.

Tawny-breasted Parrotfinch Javan Scops Owl, crescent-chested babbler, Javan flower packer, Rufous tailed fantail, javan froghmouth, salvadori nightjar, Javan tesia, Indonesia Spoted castrel, Pied shrike. Chesnut-Fronted shrike babbler, Flame fronted barbet, Orange spotted bulbul, Javan grey-throated white eyes, Blue whistling trush, Eye browed wren babbler, Mountain White-Eye, Mountain leaft warbler, Sunda Warbler, Sunda bush warbler, Indigo Flycather, Javan whistling Trush, Little Pied flycatcher.

Day 3 : Ciwidey – Cibodas Birding Tour ( B,L,D)

Ciwidey offers birders a truly diverse and rich experience, whether you’re hiking through the misty forests or exploring the lakes. The opportunity to see these rare and exotic species, combined with the area’s stunning natural beauty, makes Ciwidey a must-visit destination for any serious birder.

Early breakfast will be served at the hotel or Guest house, and its still possible to bird to look for some key birds species which missed in the previous day. Then check out from the lodge where we will drive to Cibodas, takes around 3 to 4 hours driving if there is not traffic jam.

Arrival at Cibodas, check in at the Guest House or Hotel. Explore Cibodas Botanical Gaden, is a 84.99 hectares (210.0 acres) botanical garden on the slopes of Mount Gede located in the Cibodas subdistrict of West Java, Indonesia.

It was operated by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), which now has been transformed into the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). Afternoon is available for birding around Cibodas to look for Sunda thrush, White-crowned forkail/Javan forktail.

Day 4 : Gunung Gede Birding Full Day Tour (B,L,D)

After early breakfast at Hotel or Guest house, we drive to the entrance gate of Gunung Gede, then birding around Gunung Gede, and we hope to see: Chesnut-bellied patrige, White flanked sunbird, Javan tesia, pygmy wren babbler, Pygmy tit, White-bibbed babbler, Crescent-chested babbler.

Javan Blue robin, Javan flower packer, Rufous tailed fantail, Javan scop owel, Java froghmouth, Salvadori nightjar, Javan tesia, javan spoted castrel, Chesnut-Fronted shrike babbler, White Browed shrike babbler, Javan Hawk eagle, Flame fronted barbet, Orange spotted bulbul.

Sunda trush ( its rare ) Javan grey-throated white eyes, Blue whistling trush, little spider-hunter, long-billed spider hunter, Tawny breasted parotpinch, Javan Shrotwing, Javan Whsitling Trush, Rufous fronted Laughingtrush, Javan Banded Broadbill, Indigo Flycather and Snowy browed flycatcher.

Day 5 : Cibodas Birding Tour – Jakarta Hotel / Jakarta Airport (B,L)

Early breakfast will be served at hotel / Guest house. And after we have had breakfast, check out then we drive to Cibodas where we will do birdwatching around Cibodas botanical garden.

We hope to see Flame fronted barbet, Pygmy bushtit, Pygmy Cupwing, Lesser Shortwing, Crescent-chested Babbler ,Java’s Blood-breasted (Javan) Flowerpecker, Javan Fulvetta and White-flanked Sunbird, Yellow-throated Hanging Parrot, Javan Kingfisher, Blue Nuthatches, and Sunda Minivets. Rusty-breasted Cuckoo , Cave Swiftlet, Black-winged Flycatcher-shrike and Javan Munia.

Lunch will be served at the local restaurant, and after lunch we drive back to Jakarta Hotel or Jakarta airport. End of Birding trip.
