Itinerary

Day 1: Jakarta – Legon Pakis – Cimahi Bird Camp (B,L,D)

You will be picked up at Hotel Jakarta is around 4 am by our representative, then proceed to Carita by a private car, arrival at Carita, breakfast and coffee break will be served at the local restaurant.

After breakfast, we drive to to Citeureup where you will bird at mangrove area to look for water birds and the Kingfisher species : cerulean kingfisher, sacred kingfisher, Javan kingfisher, blue-eared kingfisher, common kingfisher, white-throated kingfisher, collared kingfisher, olive-backed sun bird, golden-bellied gery gone, Malayan pied fantail, Indonesia honey eater, Javan plover, little egret, great egret, Javan pond heron, striated heron, lesser coucal.

Birding at mangrove area. And after that, we cruise to Legon Pakis to look for banded kingfisher, rufous-backed kingfisher, stork-billed kingfisher, Javan tit babbler, javan black capped babbler, horsfield’s babbler, pin-striped tit babbler, black-banded barbet, yellow-eared barbet, yellow throated hanging parrot, laced woodpecker, common flame back woodpecker, Sunda pygmy woodpecker, freckle-breasted woodpecker, olive-winged bulbul, black-headed bulbul, ruby-throated bulbul, black drongo, ashy drongo, asian drongo cuckoo, chestnut-breasted malkoha, red-billed malkoha, wolly-necked stork, blyth’s paradise flycatcher, fulvous-chested jungle flycatcher, orange-breasted flowerpecker, scarlet-headed flowepecker.

Birding at Legon Pakis. And after that, trekking to Cimahi to look for Javan owlet, Javan frog mouth, white-breasted babbler, chestnut-capped babbler, gray-cheeked tit babbler, Javan black capped babbler, horse field babbler, temminck babbler, orange-breasted trogon, banded broadbill, banded kingfisher, sometimes a pair can be seen here, black-winged flycatcher-shrike, blyth paradise flycatcher, and also sometimes the sound of rhinoceros horn bill can be heard but normally its on the high canopy.

Day 2: Cimahi – Cigenter River Bird Camp Site (B,L,D)

Breakfast and coffee break will be served at the base camp, and after breakfast, morning birding at Cimahi looking for some endemic birds.

At about 11 AM, we trek back to Legon Pakis where we will cruise to Cigenter river by wooden boat. Afternoon birding at savana to look for mangrove blue flycatcher, mangrove whistler, blue-throated bee eater, green peafowl, red jungle fowl, forest wagtail, rhinoceros hornbill, Oriental pied hornbill, White-rumped shama, Greater green leafbird, Crimson sunbird, oriental-magpie robin. Dinner will be served.

Day 3: Morning Birding on Canoe – Peucang Island – Cidaon (B,L,D)

Breakfast will be served at the base camp, and after breakfast, we bird on canoe trips up the Cigenter River are somewhat influenced by tides and trees across the river and if conditions are right the canoes can travel deep into the forest.

The Cigenter’s water meander through dense overhanging rain forest, the habitat of pythons and hornbills, where crocodiles and Rhinos may also be seen on rare occasions.

The charm of this river lies in its tranquil, primeval beauty. Explore the beautiful birding on a canoe activity at Cigenter river. And after we birded at Cigenter river, we cruise to Peucang Island where you will stay one night at Peucang, arrival at Peucang Island,

Peucang Island is a unique and delightful island of Peucang lies in clear blue waters off the north western coastline of the Ujung Kulon Peninsula. Its white-sand beaches and coral reefs shores hold a fascinating world of marine life while Peucang’s impressive forest shelters an abundance of wildlife, some of which graze and play around the lodges.

Opposite Peucang Island across a 800 meters channel is the Ujung Kulon Peninsula with a wide variety of attractions. Peucang Island’s beach is superb for swimming and shallow snorkeling reefs are also found along the shore. For deeper snorkeling there are coral reefs to the east, midway between the island and mainland. Check in, bamboo lodge ( non AC).

In the afternoon at 4 pm, we cruise to Cidaon for afternoon birding to look for ruddy-kingfisher, black-capped kingfisher, rufous-backed kingfisher, fulvous chested jungleflycatcher, asian fairy bluebird, black-banded barbet, yellow –eared barbet, hill myna. And after that, we cruise back to Peucang Island. Dinner will be served.

Day 4: Peucang Island – Carita – Jakarta (B,L)

Free program until the mid of the day. After lunch, we cruise to Carita where you will be dropped off back to Jakarta. En route to carita, we will look for bridled tern, little tern, gull-billed tern, roseate tern, blacknaped tern, common tern, great crested tern, lesser crested tern, lesser frigatebird, Christmas island frigate bird.

Arrival at Carita is around 4 PM, then drive back to Jakarta hotel. End of Ujung Kulon Birding Tour
