Day 1 : Jakarta – Carita – Peucang Island ( B,L,D+BBQ)
You will be picked up at your Hotel in Jakarta is around 4 am by our representative, then proceed to Carita by a private car, arrival at Carita, breakfast and coffee break will be served at the local restaurant.
After breakfast, we cruise to Legon Pakis by speed boat takes around 2 hours approximately, then we bird to look for:
Banded kingfisher, Rufous-backed kingfisher, Stork-billed kingfisher, Grey-cheeked tit babbler/Javan tit babbler,
Black-banded barbet, Yellow-eared barbet, Pin-striped tit-babbler, Yellow-throated hanging parrot, Laced woodpecker, Olive-winged bulbul, Black-headed bulbul, Ruby-throated bulbul, Black drongo, Ashy drongo, Asian drongo cuckoo,
Chestnut-breasted malkoha, Red-billed malkoha, Wolly-necked stork, Blyth’s paradise flycatcher, Fulvous-chested jungle flycatcher, Orange-breasted flowerpecker, Scarlet-headed flowepecker.
Explore legon pakis, then drop to the boat to cruise to Cigenter river for afternoon birding on the canoe and also its possible to bird at savannah to look for :
- Mangrove blue flycatcher,
- Mangrove whistler,
- Blue-throated bee eater,
- Green peafowl,
- Red – jungle fowl,
- Forest wagtail,
- Rhinoceros hornbill,
- Oriental pied hornbill,
- White-rumped shama,
- Greater green leafbird,
- Crimson sunbird and
- Oriental-magpie robin.
Arrival at Cigenter, canoe trips up the Cigenter River are somewhat influenced by tides and trees across the river and if conditions are right the canoes can travel deep into the forest.
The Cigenter’s water meander through dense overhanging rain forest, the habitat of pythons and hornbills, where crocodiles and Rhinos may also be seen on rare occasions. The charm of this river lies in its tranquil, primeval beauty. Explore the beautiful canoe activity at Cigenter river.
After we birded at Cigenter river, we cruise to Peucang Island where you will stay one night at Peucang, arrival at Peucang Island, Peucang Island is a unique and delightful island of Peucang lies in clear blue waters off the north western coastline of the Ujung Kulon Peninsula.
Its white-sand beaches and coral reefs shores hold a fascinating world of marine life while Peucang’s impressive forest shelters an abundance of wildlife, some of which graze and play around the lodges. Opposite Peucang Island across a 800 meters channel is the Ujung Kulon Peninsula with a wide variety of attractions.
Peucang Island’s beach is superb for swimming and shallow snorkeling reefs are also found along the shore. For deeper snorkeling there are coral reefs to the east, midway between the island and mainland. Check in, villa seaside. Your own program. Dinner will be served around 7PM.
Day 2: Peucang Island – Carita – Jakarta
Breakfast will be provided at 6:30 am at the restaurant, and after breakfast, we cruise to Cidaon, situated on the Peninsula opposite Peucang Island, this large grasslands with an observation tower is the grazing grounds for Banteng ( bos javanicus), pigs, monkeys, peafowl and on very rare occasions Javan Rhinoceros.
We bird at Cidaon to look for Rudy-kingfisher, Asian fairy bluebird, Black-capped kingfisher, White-crowned forktail/Javan forktail, Streaky-breasted spiderhunter, Little spiderhunter, Orange-headed thrush, Javan banded pitta, Hill myna, Fulvous-chested jungle flycatcher, Black-banded barbet, Yellow-eared barbet, Rhinoceros hornbill, Wreathed hornbill, Oriental pied hornbill, Pied imperial pigeon, Gray –cheeked green pigeon, Green peafowl at savanna.
And after we birded at Cidaon, we cruise back to Peucang Island where we can bird around Peucang Island looking for Yellow-throated hanging parrot, White-rumped shama, Black-napped monarch.
Lunch will be served, and after lunch, we cruise to Carita where you will be drop off back to Jakarta hotel or Jakarta international airport. En route to Carita, looking for Bridled tern, Little tern, Gull-billed tern, Roseate tern, Black-naped tern, Common tern, Great crested tern, Lesser crested tern, Lesser frigatebird, Christmas Island frigate bird. Arrival at Carita around 3 Pm, then drive back to Jakarta hotel/airport. End of birding Ujung Kulon.
